The words SHEMESH (sun), TZEDAKA (charity), and MARPEH (healing) are pierced through the walls of the cylindrical charity box in old Rashi script. A 24 K gold-plated ball crowns the box, which rotates upon an axis and represents the sun. The wall of the cylinder is gently turned outward at a certain point, bringing to mind the handle of the traditional Tzedaka boxes.
“BUT UNTO YOU THAT FEAR MY NAME SHALL THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS ARISE WITH HEALING IN ITS WINGS” Malachi 3:20
וזרחה לכם יראי שמי שמש צדקה ומרפא בכנפיה" מלאכי ג’ 20 "
The words shemesh, tzdedaka, and marpeh symbolize and express the how the light-giving sun shines upon the righteous and spreads good health upon its rays. |
